Every month since January 2020, drawn on the map. For years the fire was a Gaza-border story — one red corner of an otherwise dark map. Then October 2023, and front after front lights up until, by the 2026 war, all 30 alert regions are burning at once. Press play, or drag the timeline.
One frame per calendar month. Colour scaled by alerts per region (log). Region boundaries: Home Front Command alert polygons (tzevaadom.co.il).
Before October 2023, only one month in nearly four years exceeded a thousand alerts nationwide — May 2021, with 6,331. Twenty-three of Israel's 30 alert regions had ever been hit. After October 7 the map changes state: Hezbollah lights up the Confrontation Line for fourteen straight months, Houthi fire reaches Eilat and the centre, Iran's direct barrages flash nationwide in April and October 2024 and June 2025 — until the map's biggest month on record, March 2026, with 58,608 alerts, when every one of the 30 regions was under fire.
